On the 22nd of January 2012 Great Danes played Writtle in a league match.
We started sleepily for the first 10 minutes but then disaster struck! We conceded a goal. We soon picked up the pace though.
We suddenly started to play like Barcelona taking as little touches as possible. Then we had a chance to counter attack and boy did we take it! Lewis ran up the line and crossed it into Nicco who hit it just wide. Then James worked the ball up the field and made a fantastic pass to Lewis who placed it looking cool. It was 1:1 at half time and we had the wind in our faces and going uphill! This was always going to be tough.
We had to put all of our muscles and work into this. The team were working there socks off but we couldn’t get the ball out if our half.
Some blasts at Tom but nothing got past him. Ed was our main man stopping there players right in there tracks. But there sneaky number 3 kept getting the ball in the box and with that another Writtle goal came. With changes of our positions we soldiered on. Despite everything, James pulled the team into their half. In the last few minutes we were pressuring their goal but we didn’t pull one off. 2:1 to them and we could have got a goal.
Ed was our man of the match because of his brick wall defending.
Welcome back Tommy-boy! And Chris man. Our goalie's back!!
Thanks for all your support and hope to see you against Ongar next week.

Great Danes (2) v Hannikans Farm (1)
As the game kicked off in the wet damp ground, my Dad for the 1st time refed against giants 2 times the size of Jamie and I but that didn’t scare us. My Dad was more scared than I was so he must have been terrified. We always get off to a very sleepy start and that made us go behind by a goal by the amount of speed this number 10 has, it’s like the cartoon legs whizzing round and round. So I came off and that helped us because I came off when Theo scored a cross instead of a goal but we didn’t care because we were back in the game. soon the half time whistle went so that meant I could come on and play in centre mid. That meant I have to go cross country up and down the pitch. We eventually got the winning goal but it was a scrambled the ball into the back of the net.
Skills:
Ollie: talented with skills
Theo : crossing the ball into the penalty box
Nico : his shooting up into the top corners
Edward : speed and the bravery in the tackles
Jamie: first touch and placing the ball
Jonny: brave challenges
Conner: brave challenges
Harry: his passing and crossing into the box
Matt: strength with and without the ball
Match report written by the man of the match James Wiltshire but dedicated to all as a great team effort.
Captains match report Sunday 20th November.
Great Danes 0 Chelmsford 7
John was in goal and saved some very good shots. Their 2 forwards were very strong and they put me and Connor under a lot of pressure and managed to score 5 before half time.
A talk by Tasha at half time and a change in positions, and we played a lot better in the second half.
Ollie and John played well in defence and we managed to create more chances in their half, Nicco had a few great shots, but no luck with any goals.
James managed to save a few super shots, but they still managed to get a further 2 passed us, for the finish score to be 7-0
A disappointing result, but makes us determined for our next match.

Perry Street Home By Oli:
At the game on Sunday, in my view, we could have won. In the first half we were passing like Barcelona. In the second half we were firing a load of shots off every second. The score was unfortunate as we lost 2:1.
Theo: He played his best form on the pitch. He was skilling every opponent he saw. If I had a penny for every player he passed, I’d be a rich man.
James: He was great at the game. I was in midfield in the second half and was worn out after 5 minutes. He has got to be one of the fittest players in the squad. He runs around all game without even breaking a sweat.
Jamie: He was a brilliant goalie. If he wasn’t there we could have lost 5:1.
Lewis: He was incredible at the weekend. He was one of our most important players. If he hadn’t have set me up, we wouldn’t have scored.
The game was very exciting (and physical). We were unfortunate to lose. Also, thanks to Tasha for awarding me Man of the Match. The whole team played brilliantly.

We started off strong with Jamie running through Stones’ midfield and
defence, but
he was stopped at the last minute by a good tackle. Some good pressure
on the ball
and on their back four, until we got a corner. Up stepped big
Matt, struck at goal and we scored! 1-0 to Great Danes. Stones kept on
coming
strong with some good shots on goal but some fabulous saves by Theo.
The ref
blew the whistle and it was 1:0 at half time. Second half and another
keeper in goal (me). Stones kicked off with the ball coming straight at
goal, a slice with the outside of my boot put it out for a corner.
Stones attacked next and with another good shot on goal they managed to
score. 1-1. We didn't let our heads go down and kept up the attacking
play. Our pressure led to corner after corner! We got our reward when
from Jamie's
corner the ball fell at Lewis's feet and he slammed it home. 2-1. Then
Stones
came out strong with a good shot on goal, then hallelujah, Ollie came
in with
one of the best blocks I have ever seen (saved us two points). The
final whistle
went and we could celebrate our third victory in a row.
Well done boys, keep it going.

We won YEEEAAAHHH!!!!!!!!
After a fairly strong start to the game by Hutton who hit the post and the crossbar at half -time it was 1-0 to us.
I finished a brilliant passing move, involving Theo and James, with a superb strike which their goalkeeper was
unlucky with. In the second half Harry pulled off some fantastic saves with Matt tackling nicely and Lewis was
dangerous down the wing. We wasted a couple chances later on in the game as we weren’t passing enough.
Jamie nearly scored at the end but he hit the cross-bar with minutes to go, after good skills.
Nicco.
A game played in record temperatures for October 2nd. We lined up against
Perry Street wanting to get a good result for the way we have played over
recent weeks. After what seemed like only 10 minutes we were 1 up from
Harry. Midfield and attackers linked up but were on a couple of occasions
caught too far up the pitch leaving our defenders to deal with a ball that
seemed to bounce as high as the adults. The opposing team seemed a lot
taller than us so were able to capitalise on the ball over the top. Then a
controversial moment when a penalty was awarded against Theo for what I
thought looked like a good tackle after he had tracked back to defend a
chance on goal. Fantastic penalty save from John (who went on to be our
M.O.T.M.) but the ball was not cleared from the danger area and we were 1-1
at HT. 2nd half and within minutes we were in front again from a good move
that ended with Nicco putting the ball in the back of the net. The remainder
of the 2nd half saw 3 goals to Perry Street and luck wasn't on our side for
2 of them with the last a result of pushing forward looking for the
equaliser. In the end we were left wondering how we had lost a game that
looked as thou we at least deserved a draw. Well done to Perry Street and
thanks for a good battle on a hot day.
Final score 4-2
First game of the season is always a big one so we had our hopes high for our match against Writtle. It was an exciting game and within the first 5 minutes we were 1-0 up with some lovely passing by Jamie and Theo. Theo and Jamie kept up their passing for the next 5 minutes until they scored. After that goal the passing was a bit sloppy and we weren't getting behind the ball as well. At the end of the first half the scores were 2-1 to them. Our heads were still looking up as the quality of the play was even-stevens. It was the start of the second half and they were 2-1 up as they had better chances than us. They scored very early in the second half with a great counter attack and then the game was very open for a long time until we put on the pressure and Nicco finished a great goal to make it 3-2 them. With 5 minutes to go both teams had some brilliant chances but missed them all. The final whistle went with the score at 3-2 to Writtle. I would like to thank the ref and the mums and dads who cheered us all on. Match report written by the captain Theo Hart
